Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Agincare team as a Night Senior Care Assistant at their Waterside care home in Southwark. You will be responsible for providing high-quality, person-centred care to residents, including administering medication, leading social activities, and supporting new or existing staff.

Main duties of the job

As a Night Senior Care Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring residents receive excellent personal care, including bathing, dressing, and oral care. You will contribute to care reviews and administer medications in a safe and supportive way. Additionally, you will lead and participate in social activities and events within the home, and may be called upon to support and develop new or existing staff members.

What is required from you?

  • A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
  • Qualified to at least NVQ Level 2, and achieved or working towards NVQ level 3 (or equivalent)
  • At least two years' experience working in a social care environment - preferably with vulnerable people over 65
  • Good demonstrable knowledge and experience of dementia
  • Excellent communication skills and a real ability to show empathy to people under your care
  • This is a Night Senior Care Assistant role to work 36 hours per week from 8pm to 8am to include working alternative weekends

A day in the life of a Senior Care Assistant

  • Person-centred care - You will ensure that residents receive personal care from you and your team including bathing, dressing and oral care within their preferences, and actively promote right to choice and independence
  • Review -You will contribute to and carry out care reviews with your residents to ensure their plans reflect their needs.
  • Medication - You will administer residents' medication in a safe and supportive and compliant way
  • Social Activity - You will lead in and participate in trips out, social engagements and activities within the home.
  • Leadership - you may support new starters or existing staff with shadowing and development, and may be called up on to lead the home where more senior managers are not available.
