Main duties of the job

As a Bank Night Senior Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality personal care, including bathing, dressing, and medication administration, while actively promoting residents' independence and choice. You will contribute to care reviews, lead social activities, and potentially support and develop new or existing staff. The successful candidate will have at least two years' experience in a social care environment, with a good understanding of dementia care. Excellent communication skills and a genuine empathy for the residents are essential.

What is required from you?

  • A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
  • Qualified to at least NVQ Level 2, and achieved or working towards NVQ level 3 (or equivalent)
  • At least two years' experience working in a social care environment - preferably with vulnerable people over 65
  • Good demonstrable knowledge and experience of dementia
  • Excellent communication skills and a real ability to show empathy to people under your care
  • Bank Night Senior Care Assistant - for this role you must have the flexibility to work day, night and weekend shifts as and when required

A day in the life of a Senior Care Assistant

  • Person-centred care - You will ensure that residents receive personal care from you and your team including bathing, dressing and oral care within their preferences, and actively promote right to choice and independence
  • Review -You will contribute to and carry out care reviews with your residents to ensure their plans reflect their needs.
  • Medication - You will administer residents' medication in a safe and supportive and compliant way
  • Social Activity - You will lead in and participate in trips out, social engagements and activities within the home.
  • Leadership - you may support new starters or existing staff with shadowing and development, and may be called up on to lead the home where more senior managers are not available.
