Job summary

Agincare are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join their team at Sedgemoor Care Home in Weston-Super-Mare. The role involves menu planning, understanding dietary needs, and managing the kitchen's day-to-day operations.

Main duties of the job

As a Cook at Sedgemoor Care Home, you will be responsible for developing and implementing menu ideas, working closely with the wider staff to ensure residents' nutritional and dietary needs are met, and managing the kitchen's stock and hygiene standards. You will have a background in kitchens and an understanding of how to run a professional kitchen. Knowledge of the IDDSI framework or supporting complex dietary requirements is desirable.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our friendly and professional team at SedgemoorCare Home, a welcoming 40-bed residential care home that prides itself on providing high-quality care and nutritious, home-cooked meals for our residents.

What is required from you?

  • A minimum of 12 months on your right to work
  • Must be available to work 27 hours per week. This will include alternate weekends
  • A background within kitchens and understanding of how to run a professional kitchen
  • Knowledge of the IDDSI framework or supporting complex dietary requirements is desirable.

A day in the life of a Cook

  • Menu planning -Collaborating with the home manager and our residents' requests and wishes, you will be able to develop and implement menu ideas. Our homes are always having themed days and events where you can showcase your skills and creativity.
  • Understanding dietary needs - You will work closely with the wider staff to ensure we are meeting our resident's specific nutritional and dietary needs including modified food textures and allergies.
  • Kitchen Management -You will be the main point of contact for the kitchen and responsible for the day to day running of stock management and hygiene standards
