Job summary

The role of a Kitchen Assistant at Agincare Homes Holdings in Dursley is to support the chef in creating healthy and balanced meals and snacks, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, and providing excellent customer service to the residents. The successful candidate will be a caring, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual with some prior experience in a catering environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the chef in preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and ensuring compliance with food safety and COSHH regulations. You will work as part of a team, but also have the ability to work independently when needed. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential, as you will be interacting with residents and providing a high level of care.

What is required from you?

  • A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience in a kitchen setting is essential.
  • This is a part time contract working 18 hours per week, to include alternate weekends
  • The main shift pattern is from 4:00pm to 6:30pm, however a flexible working pattern will be required within this role

A day in the life of a Kitchen Assistant

  • Support the chef to create healthy/balanced meals and snacks, and ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the kitchen area, with good levels of hygiene particularly in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols.
  • Work as a team player, but have the ability to lone work when needed, effectively managing your time.
  • Offer support, communication and engagement to the residents.

About You

You don't have to have worked in care before, a previous role in a different catering environment is great for someone willing to learn. We'd like you to have some prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH. You will be a caring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to show empathy to the needs of others.
