Job summary

This is a bank kitchen assistant role at a care home in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. Main duties of the job

As a kitchen assistant, you will support the chef to create healthy and balanced meals and snacks, ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols. This is a bank role, so you will need to be flexible to work days, nights and weekends as required.

What is required from you?

  • A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience in a kitchen setting is essential.
  • Bank shifts available
  • Please note this is a bank role, so you will need to be flexible to work days, nights and weekends as and when required

A day in the life of a Kitchen Assistant

  • Support the chef to create healthy/balanced meals and snacks, and ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the kitchen area, with good levels of hygiene particularly in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols.
  • Work as a team player, but have the ability to lone work when needed, effectively managing your time.
  • Offer support, communication and engagement to the residents.

About You

You don't have to have worked in care before, a previous role in a different catering environment is great for someone willing to learn. We'd like you to have some prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH. You will be a caring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to show empathy to the needs of others.
