Main duties of the job

As a Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing a range of care and support services to residents in a care home setting. Your duties will include offering companionship and engagement, assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing and dressing, administering or prompting medications, preparing and serving meals, and supporting clients with their mobility and social activities. You will be working in a caring and supportive environment, with opportunities for personal and professional development.

A day in the life of a Care Assistant

  • Companionship - Providing support, companionship, communication and engagement
  • Personal care-supporting with a wash bath or shower and supporting the client with dressing and oral care.
  • Medication-Prompting, assisting or administering medications and creams.
  • Meals Supporting the client with healthy meals, snacks and beverages.
  • Domestic tasks- light cleaning tasks.
  • Mobility - Supporting the client to live as independently as possible with their mobility.
  • Social activities- Trips out, social engagements and activities within the home.
