Job summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Cook in a care home setting for Agincare, a family-run business that has been caring for and supporting people since 1986. The successful candidate will be responsible for menu planning, understanding dietary needs, and managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen to ensure a high quality of life for the residents.

Main duties of the job

As a Cook with Agincare, you will be responsible for menu planning, understanding and catering to the dietary needs of the residents, and managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. You will collaborate with the home manager and residents to develop and implement menu ideas, and ensure that dietary requirements, including modified food textures and allergies, are met. Additionally, you will be the main point of contact for the kitchen and responsible for stock management and hygiene standards.

What is required from you?

  • A minimum of 12 months on your right to work
  • A background within kitchens and understanding of how to run a professional kitchen
  • Knowledge of the IDDSI framework or supporting complex dietary requirements is desirable.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week

A day in the life of a Cook

  • Menu planning -Collaborating with the home manager and our residents' requests and wishes, you will be able to develop and implement menu ideas. Our homes are always having themed days and events where you can showcase your skills and creativity.
  • Understanding dietary needs - You will work closely with the wider staff to ensure we are meeting our resident's specific nutritional and dietary needs including modified food textures and allergies.
  • Kitchen Management -You will be the main point of contact for the kitchen and responsible for the day to day running of stock management and hygiene standards
