Job responsibilities
As a Building Information Modelling (BIM) Advisor (Digital Estates) the post holder will use their knowledge and experience to provide quality and technical assurance, ensuring the new facilities are fit for purpose and provide value for money.
The BIM Advisor will ensure suppliers have delivered the BIM models to the correct specification, design, and fully comply with legislation and industry standards. They will be responsible for signing off the BIM models, using expert knowledge to challenge where required.
Leadership is a critical element of this role, and the post holder will actively prioritise and manage a workload, analyse complex information, and present recommendations to make effective decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Effective leadership to the programme Technical Assurance team, providing clear direction and focus.
- Responsible for quality and technical assurance - ensuring facilities are fit for purpose and comply with the industry standards
- Provide direction and advice to consultants/suppliers to ensure designs meet the operational needs of service users
- Lead the production and revision of client briefs
- Lead design and implement Look and feel design guides in support of office & science laboratory work environment
- Develop and maintain a BIM technical standards library for the programme.
- Identify key stakeholders, internal and external, and effectively manage these relationships.
- Support the project teams in BIM and design matters, providing specialist advice where needed to overcome challenges or uncertainty.
- Role model commitment to personal development, promoting individual and team performance through support, guidance, and coaching.

Essential criteria
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent in a related subject (e.g. project management, quantity surveying, design/architectural, civil/structural/Mechanical/Electrical engineering, building surveying, construction or relevant technical subject matter)
- Extensive knowledge of statutory regulations & processes, Planning & building regulations and construction related legislation with an in depth understanding of construction methods.
- Ability to engage and work effectively with technical, legal and regulatory matters
- A strong delivery and commercial focus with understanding of potential cost reduction strategies and leveraging purchasing power to drive savings and benefits
- A visible leader with experience of promoting diversity, inclusion and equality of opportunity, respecting differences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, collaborating across boundaries
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated through the ability to influence and challenge effectively at a senior level.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of RIBA stages and experience of construction projects
- Understanding of Project Management techniques and processes
Selection process

Stage 2: Interview
You will be invited to a remote interview.
Behaviours and technical will be tested at interview.
You will be required to prepare a 5-10 minute presentation as part of the interview. This will assess your project delivery and technical knowledge. The details of this will be sent to you prior to the interview.

Location
This role is being offered as hybrid working based at any of our core HQs in Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool or London (Canary Wharf).

As a hybrid worker, you will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of your contractual working hours (approximately 3 days a week pro rata, averaged over a month) in one of our core HQs.
Our core HQ offices are modern and newly refurbished with excellent city centre transport link and benefit from benefit from co-location with other government departments such as the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).
Eligibility criteria

Security clearance level requirement
Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.
Successful candidates will require Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) as a minimum with willingness and capability to work towards Security Check (SC) clearance.
You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 5 years to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. UK residency less than the outlined periods may not necessarily bar you from gaining national security vetting at this higher level and applicants should contact the Vacancy Holder / Recruiting Manager listed in the advert for further advice.
Salary information
If you are successful at interview, and are moving from another government department, NHS, or Local Authority, the relevant starting salary principles for level transfers or promotions will apply. Otherwise, roles are offered at the pay scale minimum for the grade, but in exceptional circumstances there may be flexibility if you are able to demonstrate you are already in receipt of an existing, higher salary. Pay increases are through the relevant annual pay award for the role and terms.
