The Operations Team support the directorate to achieve their goals through coordination, facilitation, project management, regular reporting, staffing, governance and assurance activities. Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity to support the Cyber and Information Management, Data Governance and Privacy Operations team in a fast-paced environment within a young, but high-profile organisation.

As a Business Support Officer you will be:

  • part of a team that supports the Deputy Directors, coordinates activity across the directorate, covers workforce planning, staff development / training, finance, communications, governance, and assurance activities and responds to commissions and supports projects.
  • able to see the bigger picture on all parts of the role and apply logic process and diligence in all you do.
  • a flexible team member, comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments, able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and content to work with other areas in the team when there is a business need.

Job responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide operational support to a range of corporate functions which may include recruitment, induction, finance, HR, governance, business continuity, training, learning and development, staff engagement and communications.
  • You will be confident in trying different approaches, able to prioritise and deliver results and supporting your colleagues to do the same, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Work with others to identify areas for improvement and simplify processes, to improve ways of working.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders across the business and act as an ambassador for the directorate.
  • Participate in cross-team business support meetings and be an active member of the business support community.
  • Deputise for Operations Manager (if applicable) and cover for colleagues during periods of absence and holidays.
  • Support and undertake ad hoc projects, commissions and policy development for the Cyber Security, Information Management and Privacy Operations team and Deputy Directors.

This role is being offered as hybrid working based at one of our Core HQ's or Scientific Campuses. We offer great flexible working opportunities at UKHSA and operate using a hybrid working model where business needs allow. This provides us with greater flexibility about how and where we work, to get the best from our workforce. As a hybrid worker, you will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of your contractual working hours (approximately 3 days a week pro rata, (averaged over a month) working at one of UKHSA's scientific campus sites (Colindale, Porton or Chilton).

If based at one of our scientific campuses, you will be required to have a minimum of a Counter Terrorism Check security vetting check as a minimum. For meaningful National Security Vetting checks to be carried out individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time.
