The UKOTs Programme has an exciting vacancy for a Travel and Logistics Officer to support the programme. The post holder will be supporting the UKOTs programme to fulfil and facilitate the programme objectives at an exciting time for the programme as it continues to expand. The Travel and Logistics Officer will be responsible for leading on travel, and logistical arrangements for the programme, to support the efficient and safe deployment of staff globally as well as lead on organising international events. While the post is based in the UK, occasional international travel may be required.

The UKOTs Programme sits within Global Operations, with parts delivered through the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) and is funded directly by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office's (FCDO) Conflict Stability and Security Fund (CSSF). The programme has been running since 2016 and is now funded until March 2025 to improve global health security and strengthen public health activity in the UKOTs. This will be achieved through increased compliance with the International Health Regulations (IHR) and WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) as well as tackling mental health, obesity, non-communicable diseases, health of people in contact with the justice system, all underpinned by improving workforce development in the UKOTs.

Main duties of the job

Support to the UKOTs programme, including but not limited to:

  • Manage all programme logistical arrangements, including the development and implementation of logistics policies and
  • Procure goods and services, transportation and distribution of equipment as required
  • Lead travel support for the programme (including arranging flights, accommodation and other arrangements).
  • Lead travel and logistical arrangements for group international events.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with internal (e.g. Occupational Health, Global Operations) and external partners (e.g. Overseas Government Departments and international partners) to support safe
  • Work closely and build a good working relationship within the programme team to ensure that the team is appropriately supported pre-, during and post-deployment, including providing pre-departure briefings.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of operating environments and partners.
  • Develop and capture changes in standard operating procedures and ways of working for logistical support
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and the escalation of risks to the Programme Management Lead.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of programme financial activity and expenditure
  • Manage the payment of invoices and recharges from external and internal
  • Support the programme in monitoring and evaluation, through tracking and reporting travel related progress.
