Job responsibilities
Aspart of the All Hazards Intelligence Directorateyou will be right at the heart of the UKHSAs ambitious agenda to provide health security for the nation and protect us from known and as-yet-unknown threats. Your key responsibilities will include:
Production of the All Hazards situational awareness reports to UKHSA and Other Government Departments.
- Ensure the daily and weekly production of the reports are delivered on time. Daily product is delivered through a PowerBI Dashboard and the weekly products, to Ministers and the UKHSA Executive Committee are hard copy reports.
- Provide analytical assessment through quantitative analysis, manipulation of information and current understanding of the environment to draw sound conclusions.
- Quality assure the reports to ensure content is accurate and is written in clear understandable language.
- Successfully manage your time to work at pace with multiple ongoing tasks to deliver high quality analysis and insights.
- Actively seek out and build strong relationships, with/for team, with key stakeholders across the situational awareness landscape within UKHSA.
- Identify opportunities to improve the product contents and gain feedback from stakeholders for continual improvement
Deliver the All Hazards situational awarenessreporting via PowerBI dashboard
- To work with others to maintain the smooth daily running of the Portal, checking datasets have updated, troubleshooting issues, working with others across teams to resolve problems, communicating well with both data providers and stakeholders
- To support ongoing development of the PowerBI dashboard and apps for the Portal
- To undertake tasks associated with implementing changes to the Portal, such as improvements to functionality
- Look to continuously improve the dashboard
- To work closely with other members of the team to help upskill others in PowerBI
Essential skills:
- Experience in an analytical assessment role that demonstrates that you can find, analyse and manipulate information to draw sound conclusions.
- Hold a PowerBI, PL 300 qualification
- Skills/Experience in Power BI & Power Bi Service
- SQL and database skills
- Evidence of being flexible and adaptable to change
Highly desirable criteria
- Evidence of working effectively with cross divisional teams (collaboration)
- Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience tailoring analytical work to meet policy requirements
- Experience in working with health-related data
- Knowledge or experience in data science
- Knowledge of software skills in spreadsheets and databases

Selection Process

This part of the selection process should outline how you consider your skills, experience and achievements, and provide evidence of your suitability for the role, with particular reference to the essential criteria outlined.
You will also be asked to provide information within the Employer/ Activity history section of the application form. This is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV, setting out your career history. This will be used in sifting process and will be scored.

Stage 2: Panel Interview
All candidates who are successful at the sift stage will be invited to attend a remote interview via Microsoft Teams

You will be asked to prepare and present a 5-10 minute presentation relating to your ability to develop PowerBI dashboards and apps. The subject of this will be sent to you prior to interview.
Reserve List:
Candidates who pass the interview criteria but are not offered a post will be kept on a reserve list for 12 months and may be contacted if similar roles become available.
If you are interviewed for the post and do not meet the required threshold for the specified grade, your application may be assessed against a similar, lower grade role and you may be offered the post should one be available.
DBS - People working with government systems must complete Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks which includes a disclosure and barring security check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed for this role is BPSS however there may be a requirement for this role to be SC cleared and you should familiarise yourself with the criteria of security clearance.
