Job summary
We are looking for a Senior Scientist to work with the TB Unit, part of the UKHSA Tuberculosis (TB); Acute Respiratory, Zoonotic/ Emerging Infections; Travel Health and International Health Regulations (IHR) division. The Tuberculosis Unit aims to contribute to improved prevention and control of tuberculosis in the United Kingdom and worldwide through surveillance, information, teaching and research and advocacy.
Location:
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home.
The role will be based at; UKHSA Colindale, 61 Colindale Ave, London, NW9 5EQ and can also be worked from the UKHSA office in Canary Wharf, 10 South Colonnade, E14 5EA.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for managing, analysing, and reporting TB screening data received from implementation partners conducting TB screening in the NHS and abroad. The role will also involve provision of information and scientific advice to a range of stakeholders, production of scientific publications, and supporting policy development. Close collaboration will be required with other teams in UKHSA responsible for surveillance of disease and health inequalities.

Job responsibilities
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:
- To work together with another SEO Screening Senior Scientist to support the management of the UK pre-entry, screening programme & NHS Latent TB Infection (LTBI) testing programmes through the maintenance, development and documentation of data collection, data flows, and databases
- Coordinate the day-to-day management of LTBI & pre-entry queries inboxes supervising and advising other scientists as appropriate and ensure all emails are responded to appropriately and in a timely fashion
- Oversee preparation and analysis of data for the UKHSA TB Annual report in relation to Latent and pre-entry TB reporting on the monitoring indicators as outlined in the NHSE UKHSA TB Action Plan
- Develop and share activity and quality assurance reports with partners, supervising junior scientific colleagues team in the production of these reports
- Work with the consultants in the team to review data outputs in relation to NHS England commissioning arrangements as appropriate
- Deputise on occasion for senior leads at meetings such as the TB Programme Boar
- Respond to specific requests for information related to the Latent TB Screening Programme and UK pre-entry TB screening from colleagues in UKHSA, other health professionals (including NHSE) and the public
- Develop and maintain web material and guidance for the Latent TB Web portal to support the Latent TB Screening function
- Develop and deliver training for health professionals, scientists and others on the TB screening programmes and the processes for data entry, submission, and analysis
