Location - Home working or blended working with regular access to a UKHSA office. Homeworkers will be required to attend a UKHSA office or other location on an ad hoc basis. This is likely to be around 6-8 times per year."

UKHSA offers hybrid working or home working for its employees - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our UKHSA offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business need and in line with departmental policy. Some business travel will be required to other UKHSA offices.Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available

Main duties of the job

Health statistics are produced by a range of government departments and organisations such as DHSC, NHS England, ONS and the UKHSA. This presents a data rich but complex statistical landscape covering a range of interconnected health topics. It is therefore imperative that the UKHSA works alongside the other health statistics organisations to ensure statistics are communicated clearly, coherently and with impact, to enhance trustworthiness, support appropriate usage and maintain a dynamic and responsive health statistics ecosystem.

This role is vital to supporting the work to foster effective collaboration and engagement on health statistics with key partners like DHSC and ONS. The role is also include actively contributing to work to improve the professional statistics capability within the UKHSA.

You will support your wider team to deliver an ambitious plan to improve the coherence of government health statistics.

You will actively engage with partners across government to ensure UKHSA is aware of developments across government and can take advantage of opportunities to collaborate. You will build relationships with your cross-government peers and play an active part in the cross-government community of health statistics producers.

The Statistics Production Division sits in the Analytics and Data Science Directorate within the Data, Analytics, and Surveillance Group in UKHSA.

The division is run by the Head of Profession for Statistics and works across UKHSA to:

  • Promote and embed best practice in the production and use of statistics
  • Develop statistical capability across UKHSA
  • Ensure that statistics on health security topics are robust and widely available to serve the public good
  • Ensure statistics are produced in collaboration with the cross-government health statistics community
