Job responsibilities
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Have experience monitoring and maintaining Azure Cloud applications and infrastructure Have the skills to diagnose and fix issues in a complex containerised Azure architecture Have experience with Kubernetes and Docker containers Develop and support Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Support code using source control (git) Develop and support Azure build pipelines Have experience of Continuous Deployment tools like Octopus Deploy Support our agile development teams Maintain secure and reliable environments Have experience with PowerBI and reporting tools Keep up to date with the latest DevOps tools and practices Keep up to date on the latest Azure offerings Share your knowledge with the rest of the team Be knowledgeable on agile environments, continual delivery techniques and DevOps cultures Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management Make significant decisions within DevOps and mitigate any risks to the service and department Help shape DevOps polices and set long-term objectives and performance standards Provide technical consultancy to both internal and external technical teams
Essential Criteria
- Significant technical skills and experience Developing and maintaining Azure Cloud
- Significant technical skills and experience developing and maintaining Kubernetes, containers, Docker and PowerShell
- Significant experience in developing and supporting Infrastructure as Code with Terraform for Azure or similar environment
- Design, development and support of CI/CD pipelines using Octopus Deploy and Azure Devops or similar
- Experience configuring and Monitoring of environments using Azure
- Significantly experienced Devops Engineer who can deliver in all aspects of Devops working within Azure and a software development team
- Strong communication at all levels and a team player capable of delivering within a small team of Devops engineers

Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in IT or equivalent non-IT qualification combined with IT experience
- Professional software development qualifications
Knowledge and experience
- Previous development experience with the Microsoft stack (C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server)

Selection Process
This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Experience.
Stage 1: Application & SiftAs part of the application process, you will be asked to provide a Statement of Suitability in no more than 750 words providing examples of how you meet the essential criteria. It should also detail what you and your experience can bring to the role.
This part of the selection process should outline how you consider your skills, experience and achievements, and provide evidence of your suitability for the role, with particular reference to the essential criteria outlined.
You will also be asked to provide information within the Employer/ Activity history section of the application form. This is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV, setting out your career history. This will be used in sifting process and will be scored
If you are successful at this stage, you will progress to interview
Stage 2: Panel Interview
All applicants that progress to interview will be assessed on behaviours, experience, and ability through Success Profiles.
The interview process for this role will consist of two stages, candidates who are unsuccessful at the first stage will be removed from the process.
The first stage interview will include a technical test that lasts approximately 45 minutes. This exercise requires no preparation from the candidate.
Should you pass the technical exercise then a second competency-based interview, with a presentation will take place with the interview panel. The Behaviours tested during the interview stage will be:

As part of the interview process there will be a presentation and a technical test.

Candidates who pass the interview criteria but are not offered a post will be kept on a reserve list for 12 months and may be contacted if similar roles become available.
