Job summary

We are looking for an Insight Lead to work in the UK Health Security Agency's Behavioural Science and Insights Unit (BSIU), part of the Science Group.

The BSIU is at the forefront of understanding attitudes and behaviours relating to public health. It is responsible for generating insight to inform the evidence base for strategic decision making and policy development, service design and delivery, for different teams across UKHSA.

Location

Salary & Grade: Grade 7 - £55,799 - £65,089 (Inner London), £53,812- £63,252 (Outer), £51,834 - £61,414 (National)

Main duties of the job

The role of Insight Lead within the BSIU is to bring to life the experiences and voices of public and stakeholders in compelling ways, using insight from market research and behavioural science, internal and external data, feedback from stakeholders and intermediaries, and other relevant sources. As Insight Lead, you will report to the Head of Insight, and provide senior oversight and management of insight work to support delivery of UKHSA's strategic priorities, as set out in the 3-year Corporate Strategy. You will line manage and work with a Senior Insight Manager to deliver research projects for the BSIU and stakeholders within UKHSA, commissioning research via market research suppliers with whom the BSIU holds contracts, leading on the conduct of primary research via the UKHSA's People's Pulse online community panel, and synthesising findings from existing research and evidence.

Job responsibilities

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

  • Leading the delivery of timely and actionable insight, drawing together insight from multiple sources surveys, qualitative research, operational and population data to inform decision-making and service improvements across the organisation. Providing senior oversight of the UKHSA Peoples Pulse online community panel, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and working with a Senior Insight Manager to deliver projects.

  • Developing and delivering appropriate outputs (e.g., dashboards, reports, presentations) to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that insight project and information management structures and processes are in place and are regularly reviewed / updated, implementing improvements where needed.
  • Championing insight across the organisation, embedding the lived experiences of the public and, in particular, groups within the population who are disproportionately impacted by public health issues, into decision making and service improvements.
  • Playing an active role within the Insight team and wider BSIU to maximise collaboration and knowledge sharing with colleagues across the organisation, line managing a Senior Insight Manager.
  • Identifying, discussing, and owning professional performance and training / development needs with your line manager through appraisal / individual development plan. Attending internal / external training events.

To participate in all mandatory training as required, i.e., fire safety, information governance and all other mandatory training
