Job summary
This is an exciting role within the Public Health Clinical Response team. As a Clinical Response Pharmacist, you will be responsible for professional pharmaceutical advice and leadership to the Public Health Clinical Response Division, and for relevant aspects of clinical response relating to public health clinical response and medical countermeasures across UKHSA, DHSC and other partners and stakeholders.
The postholder will also work closely with colleagues in Clinical and Public Health Group as well as the vaccines and countermeasures division in Commercial in UKHSA.
Location
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.
This role can be based at one of our UKHSA offices/locations (Leeds, Manchester, Totnes, London, Horsham, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham, Harlow, Liverpool, Fareham, Gloucester, Newcastle and Birmingham) with opportunities for an element of working from home.
You may be asked to express a location preference during the application process.
The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.
*Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available.*
Main duties of the job
As Clinical Response Pharmacist your main responsibilities will include:
- Advise the DD Public Health Clinical Response on all matters regarding pharmaceutical communications related to core clinical response business deliverables
- Oversee the preparation of high-level communications to the UKHSA-DHSC CBRN Stockpile Review Group
- Set out UKHSA's key priorities in relation to CBRN medical countermeasures to mitigate potential risk to health
- Provide pharmaceutical advice for the public health clinical response division on delivery of its responsibilities including:
- Pharmaceutical leadership and input to evidence reviews as appropriate
- Pharmaceutical leadership and input to the development and review of clinical guidance and publications such as the CBRN Handbook
- Provide legal advice on stockpiling to UKHSA. Operating Contingency Protocol:
- Undertake risk analyses to determine whether additions to the stockpile are subject to the Protocol
- Ensure that products covered by the Contingency Protocol are tested and considered by the Panel as appropriate.
- Liaise with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Governance on Medicines Governance and PGD policies and procedures
- Support incident response from a professional pharmaceutical perspective.
