UKHSA offers hybrid working or home working for its employees - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our UKHSA offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business need and in line with departmental policy.

Working Pattern - Full Time/ Flexible Working / Hybrid Working /Home Working

Grade & Salary - Grade 7. National banding - £49,592 - £58,769 per annum. Outer London -£51,494- £60,528 per annum. Inner London - £53,396 - £62,286 per annum.

New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band.

The internal roles rules apply to existing Civil Servants, i.e. level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.

Main duties of the job

The Agile Delivery Manager is accountable for the performance of the portfolio teams and the delivery of products and services within it, that meet the needs of UKHSA and external users. You will do this by:

  • Building and maintaining multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring that they are motivated, organised and collaborating to agreed iterative plans
  • Coaching teams and team members, facilitating continuous improvement and applying the most appropriate Agile and lean tools and techniques to product delivery
  • Planning and communicating with stakeholders, overcoming challenges and visualising progress towards agreed goals
  • Identifying the people, skills, and resources that teams need to deliver agreed goals
  • Proactively managing the risks, issues, dependencies and blockers to delivery as well as any delegated budgets and benefit/value realisation and reporting these things to the appropriate delivery board
  • Participating in the delivery group, learning, sharing and applying skills and knowledge to improve delivery outcomes.
  • Keeping the delivery teams focussed on identifying and meeting user needs so that they remain on track to meet the GDS Service Standard
  • Managing budgets and suppliers, submitting all necessary forecasts and gaining all necessary investment approvalsWorking closely with the Product Delivery community to ensure new services, products and capabilities deliver value to citizens, in line with UKHSA priorities and threats

We are looking for a Delivery Manager to join our Technology team. Youll manage an agile portfolio of work, delivered by several multidisciplinary teams from a range of supplierswith a mix of internal resources. You may also manage a specific project at the same time, dependent on the portfolio scale and complexity. You will work on a range of citizen-facing change projects building sustainable capabilities to secure the nations health, removing blockers and working in partnership with users, policy makers, developers and senior managers.

Your job will be to create iterative plans to solve problems and deliver new services, focusing multi-disciplinary teams on whats important and getting the best value against constraints. Youll also be a senior member of the team with the opportunity to shape our delivery function to respond swiftly for the future. Youll build awareness and capability across UKHSA of Government Standards as we learn from the investment made during the covid pandemic and transition to repeatable services for a wide range of threats, delivering high performing services which satisfy our citizens and colleagues across a wide variety of organisations in the UK and beyond.

You must have hands on experience of leading Agile teams throughout the product lifecycle. Were looking for people who have led several citizen facing deliveries of complex services and know how to manage uncertainty and complexity across products and programmes.
