Engagement Lead - Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) as our Engagement Lead. As an independent arm's-length body of the Department of Health and Social Care, HSSIB conducts impactful safety investigations to improve outcomes for patients across the healthcare system.

In this role, you will lead our external engagement strategy--ensuring that the voices of patients, families, healthcare staff, stakeholders and the public are central to our work and drive meaningful change. You will bring expertise in stakeholder engagement, involvement, communications, and relationship-building, with a strong commitment to amplifying diverse perspectives, particularly from underrepresented and marginalised communities.

Main duties of the job
Main responsibilities
- Leading engagement for receiving insights from patients, families, members of the public, stakeholders and healthcare staff.
- Developing stakeholder engagement plans and methods for our safety investigations, such as roundtables and focus groups with national patient advocacy organisations.
- Advise and provide expert knowledge to the organisation on engagement methodology, including developing our approach to engagement with traditionally underrepresented groups and marginalised communities.
- Develop tools and resources for staff on best practice engagement methodology.
- Managing the stakeholder relationship function of HSSIB, ensuring stakeholder engagement is key to HSSIBs work.
- Represent HSSIB at external facing stakeholder and patient and public events.
- Providing communications support and expertise to the communications and engagement team and wider HSSIB colleagues.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of patient and public engagement across the organisation, using data analysis techniques and developing metrics for reporting.
- Provide support to the communications team on creative communications (digital, media, website and content development).

This role will be reporting to the Head of Strategy, Policy, and Engagement. The postholder will effectively lead external public and stakeholder engagement for our organisation. It is essential that the postholder is an advocate for inclusive and meaningful engagement with a wide range of stakeholders have key skills in relationship creation, engagement, communications and management of stakeholders.
The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service and supporting the whole organisation, to engage with patients, families, stakeholders and the public in our work. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring HSSIB engages with diverse groups, as well as marginalised communities in an accessible and inclusive way.
Key Accountabilities
Operational
