The Surgical Floor is looking for a Staff Nurse to join our team.
We are a 26 bedded mixed speciality unit covering all General Surgery with 6 bedded theatre direct admissions lounge.
There is an opportunity to also work in hot clinic supporting the emergency surgeon in preventing inpatient admissions.

Main duties of the job
This post includes shift work during days and nights. We offer on island education through Robert Gordon University in Scotland. This includes degree, masters and standalone modules. Aside from academic education we can also offer development in clinical skills.
This role operates across a range of clinical areas within the acute and community services.
Individuals at this level will be able to plan and deliver care for complex or high risk patients within
their caseload and will give guidance and support to less experienced staff. They may be required
to take charge of the ward or team and will be able to lead with confidence

independent supplementary prescriber within specific clinical areas agreed by the organisation.
The post holder will demonstrate effective infection prevention and challenge poor practice.
The post holder will consistently provide high quality advice to patients, carers, colleagues and will
act as health promoter, incorporating health promotion themes into nursing practice.
The post holder takes responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adults and/or
families within their care and contact.
He/she shall be aware of and comply with all safeguarding
policies and procedures
The post holder will maintain accurate patient documentation and produce high quality patient
information.
The post holder will make a significant contribution to the overall physical environment and also
contribute to the development of the Risk Management Plan for the area.
