Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the CAMHS crisis and Assessment team! In this role you will have the opportunity to improve the lives of children and young people with mental health and emotional needs through the delivery of services to promote recovery and well-being.

In achieving this, to provide a combination of case management, direct clinical/ therapeutic practice, consultation and support, supervision, and training.

A Clinical Nurse Specialist role is linked grade of NM05 & NM06. Clinical Nurse Specialists who are newly appointed into role and have no line management responsibility will be a grade NM05. NM06 Clinical Nurse Specialists will have line management responsibility and/or relevant experience in their role.

Main duties of the job

A Clinical Nurse Specialist working autonomously as a highly specialist clinical resource demonstrating and providing a high level of clinical expertise in the delivery of care advice support education and deliver interventions to Children, Young People their families carers staff and health care professionals.

Professionally and managerially responsible for the overall governance, quality and safety of Children Young People within the service.

Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery and promotion of evidence-based practice in line with both local and national guidelines.

A Clinical Nurse Specialist will have clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research responsibilities.

Within the CAMHS Assessment and Crisis Pathway the clinical nurse specialist will contribute to crisis assessment risk formulation and short-term therapeutic intervention for children and young people presenting with mental health needs and supporting the coordination of referrals timely triage and safe decision making at the point of presentation.

  • Regulated Nurse with current NMC Profession Specific / Speciality Degree (or level 6 qualification) in Nursery

  • Intermediate Life Support (ILS

Desirable

  • Masters level qualification in appropriate speciality Independent Prescribing Qualification (e.g. NMC v 300)

  • This role will have direct contact with children and young people and their families so will require relevant training in relation to safeguarding service procedures and protocols DBS level will be Enhanced Child.
