Consultant
Radiologist with a specialist interest in Breast Radiology
We are currently
a team of 8 general consultant radiologists, two of whom
have subspecialist interests in breast imaging. This vacancy arises
following the retirement of one of our established breast radiologists and
presents an exciting opportunity to join a skilled, supportive, and
forward-thinking team.
Jerseys radiology service
provides care to a population of approximately100,000. With this
appointment, we will meet theRoyalCollege of Radiologists'
recommended consultant-to-population ratio, ensuring sustainability and
resilience in our service.
Main duties of the job
We offer significant flexibility with this role. While the essential requirement is for breast imaging expertise, we welcome applicants with varied interests and will tailor the job to suit the successful candidates experience and career aspirations.
Options include:
- A dedicated breast radiology role with no on-call requirement
- A general radiology role with a breast imaging component, including participation in the on-call rota
Breast Imaging Service
- Delivered by two consultant radiologists
- Currently offering 67 symptomatic sessions per week
- This post is expected to contribute at least 2 symptomatic sessions
- The team works in close collaboration with Mr Matt Stephenson, our on-island breast surgeon, who provides both mastectomy and full breast reconstruction
Facilities
The breast unit is located separately from the main radiology department and includes:
- A dedicated reporting room
- A fully equipped ultrasound and diagnostic suite
- A recently installed GE mammography unit with digital tomosynthesis
- Vacuum-assisted biopsy capability
Breast Imaging Requirements and Subspecialty Opportunities
We are specifically seeking a radiologist with proven skills in both symptomatic and screening breast imaging. This post is vital to maintaining a high-quality breast service for the island and provides excellent scope for professional development.

- Gynaecological imaging
- Head & Neck / Neurology
- Basic MSK MRI (e.g. spine, knee, shoulder, pelvis)
- Urology (including prostate MRI and biopsy)
- Cardiac imaging
- Acute/general radiology, including trauma and the surgical abdomen
Essential Criteria
Primary Medical Degree
Full Registration and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current License to practice (for overseas candidates it is mandatory that a license is obtained prior to appointment).
Higher Specialty qualification: MRCP & FRCPath or equivalent Qualifications for Specialist Registration.
Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register/Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in the relevant Specialty (or be within 6 months of obtaining this at the date of the interview - documentary evidence of this must be provided to support your application) or equivalent.
