Job summary

Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) is a 19 bedded unit; The AAU team work closely with the Emergency Department to treat a variety of patients in a fast-paced environment with medical conditions.

We have a current patient to nurse ratio of 1:7. AAU also has a 5 bedded Enhanced Care Unit which manages care for Level 2 patients who require NIV and cardiac monitoring.

We are looking for someone to build our team of nurses with a motivated individual who is ready for a challenge. We endeavour to provide our patients with a high standard of patient care and require someone with excellent clinical and communication skills.

Successful applicants would act as a role model for the team and provide support to both senior and junior members of staff whilst sharing knowledge and experience to help develop others.

You will be required to work a variety of shifts and flexibility is required to cover a 24/7 service.

Main duties of the job

This role operates across a range of clinical areas within the acute and community services. You will plan and deliver an effective and competent level of care, be fully aware of the needs of the patients and drive the standard in patient care. Working collaboratively with colleagues across other department to ensure the continuity in patient care, acting as a role model for colleuges, patients and relatives. Supervise the care given by Healthcare Assistants and provide guidance and training as appropriate
