Job summary
We are excited to launch a brand-new Combined Ambulatory Care Unit delivering both an Acute Ambulatory Care Unit and an Emergency Department Operations Unit (EDOU). We require a team of motivated and enthusiastic band 6 ward sisters / charge nurses to join us. Within this role, you will be exposed to the development and delivery of a modern, responsive acute care service, helping to reduce unnecessary admissions and improve patient outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your leadership skills while playing a key role in shaping a new service. You will gain valuable experience in acute care, patient flow management, and multidisciplinary working in a supportive environment.
Main duties of the job
The EDOU will play a key role in supporting patient flow through the Emergency Department, providing assessment, treatment, monitoring and discharge for patients requiring short-term observation and clinical decision making. AATU provides ambulatory care, assessment and investigations to those patients who do not require admission and are well enough to have their care delivered on an outpatient basis. It is an important service not only for the prevention of hospital admission, but also for the support of earlier discharge from the hospital. These are excellent opportunities for experienced nurses ready to step into leadership roles within a new and evolving service. The right people will be registered (Adult) Nurses with current NMC registrations and a commitment to delivering safe and compassionate care. They will have experience working at band 5/6 level within acute care, emergency care or acute medical settings. They will have some leadership experience, strong clinical decision-making and organisational skills alongside the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
