Job summary

Main duties of the job

To ensure that staff follow all procedures policies and processes of the Sterile Services Department and Hospital / Government policies. Sterilisation and decontamination of contaminated surgical and medical equipment back to a safe state for use on patients, in theatres / wards / out patient departments/ primary health care, using guidance notes HTM2030 / HTM2010/ EU DIRECTIVES / BUILDING NOTE 13 / Manufacturers guidance and all safety guidelines. To prepare surgical instrument trays for each surgical speciality, ensuring the correct equipment is included and quality controlled, using the appropriate processes and procedures. Managing the tracker computer system for recording the use of equipment on patients (protection through the traceability of used equipment in regard to variant CJD highly infectious prion vCJD.) Training of staff in the use of the computer systems in the department (Tracker). The training includes use of all associated hardware and software hand held bar code readers / printers / computer keys boards and problem solving. Supply management with accurate reports on production / quality control and complaints for users and from staff reusers and how any issues were dealt with. Cover for manager when not available to assist where appropriate with enquiries and attend meetings. Train staff from outside the department nurses / junior staff through the hospital in processes and techniques and 2 name and use of instrumentation. Counsel and discipline staff

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Sterile Services Supervisor to join our friendly and hardworking team within Manx Care at Noble’s Hospital!

In this role you will be accountable for organising, supervising and assisting the production and provision of sterile supplies to theatres, wards, departments and clinics across the Island; ensuring that the services provided are responsive to the needs of users. You will provide supervisory leadership to your team, overseeing their activities, and making adjustments to rotas and duties to ensure that their overall workload is consistently managed.
