Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, driven and supportive Haematology Consultant to support our vision to become the best small island-based health and care system in the world. If you are passionate about delivering high quality care and would enjoy working with us to develop and transform our services, this could be a great position for you!

Main duties of the job

Nobles Hospital is the Islands only District General Hospital, situated on the outskirts of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. It is equipped to the very latest standards with a total complement of 214 beds, and there is also a cottage hospital in the north of the Island, where some Consultant clinical sessions are held and where there is a nurse-led minor injuries unit. The Haematology and Haemochromatosis service on the Isle of Man is at present provided by a single consultant. This is a new second consultant post created to help cope with the increasingworkload and to provide consultant level cover for non-malignant haematology, myeloid malignancies and myeloma. The current staffing level in haematology consists of one Staff Grade doctor, one Clinical Nurse Specialist and a part time haemato-oncology Pharmacist. Chemotherapy (in between level 2a and level 2b) is delivered by our experienced staff nurses at the Oncology Day Unit at Nobles Hospital. We have a very close working relationship with our tertiary partners, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) and Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital and a twice-weekly video MDT takes place with CCC for all our Haemato-oncology patients.
