About the role and our team
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our friendly and supportive team as a Sterile Service Technician within Manx Care!
In this post, you will provide hospital wards and departments with the equipment and materials needed for clean, hygienic procedures. You will also collect, clean and sterilise equipment from operating theatres, clinics, A&E and wards.
Some of your day to day duties will include:
- Processing contaminated equipment and instrumentation back to a safe usable state using computers and decontamination washers and sterilisers
- Constructing sets of surgical instrument trays for each surgical speciality, ensuring the correct equipment is included and quality controlled
- Delivering sterilised goods back to the users via computer traceability and delivery notes
This is a development role within Sterile Services and is a great opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to undertake the role of a qualified Sterile Services Technician. Applications from already qualified Technicians are also welcomed and encouraged.

What can this role offer me?
By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.
As part of your role, you’ll have the chance to participate in our on call system for which you will receive an additional pay allowance.
You will have the opportunity to attend training courses when and where required in respect of further understanding about sterilisation and sterile production and the manufacturing of instrumentation, and disseminate to other staff.

Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
