Main duties of the job

Hospitals Therapies sits in the Clinical and diagnostic Care group at Nobles Hospital. Within Hospital Therapies there are Outpatient Therapies, Childrens Therapy and Acute Therapies. Acute Therapies is an integrated team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists working within the multidisciplinary team at Nobles Hospital and Ramsey Hospital. This team is dynamic and forward thinking and strives to deliver the best health care to the service users.

About the role and our team

Join Manx Care as a Band 5 (Annex T) or Band 6 Occupational Therapist today to make a real difference to the community of the Isle of Man!

These are rotational roles which means you can put all your learning, training and skills to use in a variety of clinics including orthopaedic in/outpatients, medical and self referral. 

This is offered as a development Band 5 role (Annex T) and is a great opportunity for you to develop your skills and knowledge. You will gain an excellent grounding in some of the core areas of Occupational Therapy, all the while taking advantage of the excellent development opportunities with the support of a senior clinician. You’ll be providing evidence-based assessment, treatment, follow up, evaluation and consultancy services for service users with the support initially from senior clinician, progressing to be an autonomous practitioner.

For the more experienced Therapists, the Band 6 positions are diverse roles where you will manage a specialised caseload of patients providing fantastic opportunities to gain a wide range of experience and expand your skillset.

We have an integrated health and social care service, meaning you’ll get to work across the beautiful Island alongside our supportive and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team that strives to deliver the best health care to our service users.

  • By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.
  • Be promoted to Band 6 within 2 years! The Band 5 roles are development posts where you will undergo a period of preceptorship with the aim of gaining the competencies required to fulfil a Band 6 position. During this period you will be assessed at 6, 12, and 24 months and if you meet the competencies there will be an increase in your salary. You will progress onto Band 6 once you have the full competencies for this role. 
  • You’ll also have access to our in-house learning and development centre to complete training courses to allow you to build on and develop your skills. You can find out more about our learning and development facilities here. 
  • We offer competitive salaries and generous annual leave entitlement 
  • Within Manx Care you will gain a varied caseload and more time to spend with patients, where you’ll have access to excellent resources and equipment
  • For candidates not on the Isle of Man we offer a relocation package of up to £7,000 to get you, your things and your family to the island. You will also be eligible for housing assistance to help contribute towards your mortgage or rent on the island. 
  • For those relocating or returning to the island you will receive a refund on your national insurance contributions made in your first year, this could be up to £4,000! 
  • Great on site facilities and free car parking.
