Main duties of the job

There is a demonstrable rise in the number of older people with mental health problems, in particular dementia. This number will continue to rise in the future resulting in increasing care costs and demand on mental health services and other providers. The Mental Health Services for Older People aims to provide care in peoples own homes as far as possible, and delivers this in the most efficient and cost-effective way.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, driven and forward-thinking Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team on the beautiful Isle of Man, where we are aiming to become the best small island-based health and care system!

About the role and our team

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of settings including our in-patient ward, community mental health team and general hospital. You’ll play a key role in developing seamless clinical care for older people’s mental health and be part of the development of the transformation programme of integrated care.

You’ll join our supportive multi-disciplinary team who are responsible for Older Persons Mental Health, both in the community and the in-patient setting at Manannan Court.

You will be working alongside a dedicated clinical leadership team which ensures that our service users receive the highest standard of quality care.
