Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team within Crevichon Ward,Crevichon Ward is a 17 bedded Adult Acute Mixed Inpatient Unit. It is the only Adult Acute Inpatient Unit on Island and provides evidence Based Care interventions for service users.

These interventions include Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic and Motivational Interviewing approaches. Service users are admitted to the ward on an Informal basis or under Guernsey Mental Health Law (GMHL).

TheTeam includes Registered Mental Health Nurses, Health Care Assistants, a Consultant Psychiatrist, an Associate Psychiatrist, an Occupational Therapist, a Wellness and Activities Coordinator and Administration Support staff.

They also support service users who are under the care of CAMHS, the Community Drug and Alcohol Team.

The post holder will be required to carry out a wide range of duties under the direction of a registered nurse, with minimal supervision.

They will ensure high quality individualised care is delivered to service users living with advanced dementia and other mental health diagnoses, maintaining privacy and dignity.

They are responsible for ensuring that all their mandatory and statutory training is current and demonstrate skills to new or less experienced members of staff and participate in ward-based induction and orientation programmes.
