Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Support Worker to join the Autism Hub at at Le Vieux Jardin. The Hub provides 24hour support to eight adults with Autism and/or profound and multiple learning disabilities, each living in their own purpose built bungalow.

Staff use the Active Support Model focusing on doing things with people, not for them promoting choice, independence, and participation at every opportunity to help service users participate in daily living tasks such as personal care medication management, cooking, cleaning, shopping, managing finances, and accessing the community.

You will work alongside colleagues and senior staff to deliver high quality, person centred care and act as a co key worker for allocated service users. Staff are required to be committed, reliable, and passionate about supporting others to live meaningful and independent lives.

Flexibility is essential, as the role involves working a 24hour shift system including nights and weekends. A full driving licence is required, and you must be willing to drive service vehicles.

Main duties of the job

  • Level 3 VQ Diploma in Health and Social Care with evidence of practical and theoretical knowledge and experience, or
  • Level 3 BTEC Advanced Certificate in Positive Behavioural Support
