Job summary

he States of Guernsey are looking for a Occupational Health Clinic Nurse to join the team at occupational Health.

This post will act as a support to the specialist nurses in the field of Occupational Health. The post holder will, following a period of training, induction and assessment undertake a range of occupational health clinical activities according to level of competence. To actively assist in the development and delivery of Occupational Health Services in accordance with relevant guidance and legislation. Work in partnership with other departments within the Health & Social Care e.g. Health and Safety, Control of Infection, in the achievement of corporate objectives and delivery of a quality service.

This role offers off-Island candidates an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit (see details below). This permit will also enable candidates to bring immediate family members with them who will be permitted to work on the Island in any sector. Job responsibilities

To work autonomously and manage own workload, whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team within occupational health

To deliver agreed service standards for Occupational Health Services contracts to HSC, Other States of Guernsey Departments and other clients using agreed standards.

To undertake screening of pre work health assessment forms and make assessments of fitness for proposed post in line with departmental guidelines and level of competence.

To generate appointments for staff for work related immunisations and screening based on job requirements, current immunisation status and in line with local policy and guidance.

To advise staff and managers on work related immunisation requirements and to undertake immunisation clinics providing occupational immunisations and screening for staff and external clients, as indicated by local risk assessment and immunisation policy.

To undertake management of body fluid exposure incidents involving staff in line with local policy and to liaise effectively with other parties in ensuring that appropriate action is taken to minimise risk to staff from such incidents.

To assist with the delivery and development of specific targeted health surveillance programmes (audiometry, spirometry, vision testing etc) in conjunction with Head of Department / OHA and relevant managers and with appropriate training where required.

Assist with the development and implementation of written procedures and policies for all departmental activities and to assist with research-based activities, which are needed to inform such policies.

To work with the OHA to develop and publicise Occupational Health Services and ensure the highest quality of care for staff.

Assist the HSC in planning and delivery of specific, targeted health promotion campaigns and in delivery of the annual flu vaccination campaign for HSC staff, identified States of Guernsey Departments and private organisations.

To forward plan and ensure adequate departmental medical, pharmaceutical supplies and equipment are maintained and that systems for record keeping and audit activities are adhered to and developed where necessary. Ensure that all written and electronic records implement use of computerised database ensuring information is recorded, stored and retrieved as per The Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 2017.

To assist efficient contact tracing and follow up of staff exposed to infectious pathogens in the course of their work.

To ensure that relevant tests and investigations are ordered, undertaken and interpreted, liasing with other health care professionals where appropriate and advising results to staff.
