Job summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Mental Health Staff Nurse to join the team within Crevichon Ward.

Crevichon Ward is a 17 bedded Adult Acute Mixed Inpatient Unit. It is the only Adult Acute Inpatient Unit on Island and provides evidence Based Care interventions for service users. These interventions include Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic and Motivational Interviewing approaches. Service users are admitted to the ward on an Informal basis or under Guernsey Mental Health Law (GMHL).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will coordinate the management of the ward in the absence of a senior nurse, taking responsibility, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained following the CARE values. Assisting service users with all activities of daily living is a core component of this role. The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, delivering, and evaluating personalised care for a group of individuals, ensuring service users and family are included in decision making, preserving privacy and dignity. They are responsible for their own personal development, ensuring mandatory/statutory training is completed in a timely manner. Adhering to all HSC policies and procedures. The post holder is expected to act as a mentor, practice assessor/supervisor to junior staff and students.
