Job summary
The States of Guernsey are to appoint aDeputy Manager (Band 6)to workthroughout Therapy & Enabling and Short break care within theAdult Disability Service (Committee for Health & Social Care).The post would be matched to a Registered Learning Disability Nurse or an RMN with learning disability experience. Short Breaks and Emergencycare provides 24/7 support within 3 self-contained respite flats for adults with learning disabilities, complex need, and autism. Therapy and Enabling Including a drop-in service runs Monday to Friday and currently has approximately 40 service users for whom we aim to provide a wide range of structured activities and therapies.
The management team comprises a Manager (Band 7) and 2 Deputy Managers (Band 6's) and 5 Team Leaders. As a leadership team, you will provide practice leadership and deliver excellent person-centred outcomes, supporting a diverse team of HCAs/Band 3 and 4 Support Workers.The post holder will work alongside the MDT to implement best practice.
The post holder can be based in a variety of settings including the autism hub step down service, specialist residential homes, supported living, La Vieille Plage, and the outreach teams where cover is needed, however, the role advertised is substantively with Therapy & Enabling and Short break care.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within the Therapy & Enabling
Team, Adult Disability Service
To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to
assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/care plans.
Provide cover in areas of the Adult Disability Service as required
To provide leadership and support for junior staff and students
To participate in Service development and evaluation of Therapy & Enablement within
HSC as appropriate
To co-ordinate and lead the team to ensure service users outcomes are met.
To contribute the specialist skills of Learning Disability Nursing to the MDT
