Job summary
The
States of Guernsey are looking to recruit a Clinical Lead to be the Head of the
Children's Dental Service. The Clinical Lead will be the strategic lead for the
Childrens Dental Service, providing evidence based clinical leadership and
supporting the team to deliver related objectives. The appointee will be
responsible for overseeing the management of the Childrens Dental Service
(CDS), working closely with the Practice Manager.
As
Clinical Lead they will have a predominantly clinical role with administrative
time. The post holder will need to advocate an appropriate intervention and
preventative-focused service. The new Clinical Lead will need to work to a high
ethical standard and align with HSC and GDC code of conduct. The appointee will
have overall responsibility for the Oral Health team, working closely with the
lead Dentist for this service. The appointee will also oversee the provision of
dental care for the child population of Alderney. The post holder will report
to the Associate Director for Maternity and Paediatrics.
The
post holder will be expected to work closely with General Dental Practitioners,
HSC Senior Management Teams, Senior Clinicians and The Medical Special Group.
In addition to Dental Care Professionals
and wider multidisciplinary teams, including colleagues working in Allied
Health Professions and in Education.
Main duties of the job
A key focus of
the role is to improve clinical effectiveness and outcomes for CDS patients. Facilitating
equitable accessibility to the service, based on clinical need.
- The appointee
will participate in the provision of comprehensive paedodontic treatments
under general anaesthesia and sedation.
- The Clinical
Lead will need to liaise with the visiting Consultants in
Orthodontics and Oral Surgery.
- The appointee will be responsible for carrying
out and overseeing department audits and the provision of School Screening and Epidemiological
Programmes.
- The appointee
will be responsible for developing a Health Promotion and Department Strategy
to target health inequalities in the school community.
- Represent the CDS on HSC Committees as and when required.
- There is a requirement to
participate in the Island wide out of hours Emergency Dental Service, run by
the Guernsey Dental Association.

- Provide Clinical Leadership for

line with the requirements of The Bailiwick of Guernsey and HSC.
- Developing a Health Promotion and
Department Strategy to target health inequalities in the school community and
