Job summary
The States of Guernsey are to appoint a Deputy Manager (Band 6) for La Vieille Plage within the Adult Disability Service (Committee for Health & Social Care). The post would be matched to a Registered Learning Disability Nurse or an RMN with learning disability experience. La Vieille Plage is a new service with 14 dwellings (apartments) due to open September 2025. The ground floor will support individuals with complex physical needs (and Learning Disability) and the upper floor, individuals with Autism. The management team comprises a Manager (Band 7) and 2 Deputy Managers (Band 6's) and 2 Team Leaders (Band 5's) (registrants). As a leadership team, you will provide practice leadership and deliver excellent person centred outcomes, supporting a diverse team of HCAs/Band 3 and 4 Support Workers. The post holder will work alongside the MDT to implement best practice.
The post holder can be based in a variety of settings including the autism hub step down service, specialist residential homes, supported living, short break service, therapy and enablement service, and the outreach teams where cover is needed, however, the role advertised is substantively with La Vieille Plage.
Main duties of the job
Staff are required to work a shift system that offers support 24 hours a day.
Staff are involved in all aspects of maintaining the area using the active support model, thismay include cleaning, shopping, washing ironing, cooking etc. Service users will beencouraged to participate in these activities with the staff.
Staff are expected to hold a driving licence and be prepared to drive service vehicles. TheManager can apply a level of flexibility with this requirement.
Band 6 staff are expected to be able to co-ordinate and lead a team within the service, andalso develop and implement programmes of care and support.
