Job summary
The States of Guernsey has anexciting opportunity for a HCPC registered, experienced and autonomous Band 8a lead Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to run and manage a small but essential team within Health and Social Care Adult Physical Health Services on the beautiful island Channel Island of Guernsey.The postholder will be responsible for the overall management of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service and provide operational leadership, service delivery, supervision, professional consultation, guidance and advice to the MDT working within and service users accessing this service.
The post-holder will benefit from a unique opportunity to support and sculpt the Speech and Language Therapy team in delivering quality services as part of a larger network of SALT on the island and within the wider multi-disciplinary team. This role will be working within the Physical Health inpatient, acute and community settings including with service users own homes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the management of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service. To provide management, leadership, direction, supervision, professional consultation, guidance and advice to staff working within this service.
In collaboration with key stakeholders, the postholder will work to:
Lead, plan, develop and deliver a high-quality SLT Service that is well integrated with otherprofessional services and reflects local need;
Ensure appropriate financial control
Promote governance and best practice principles in the delivery of SLT Service.
The Adult SLT Service is small and whilst sufficient time will be allocated to managementduties, the postholder will also manage a caseload of patients with complex and highlycomplex needs.
