Job summary
Are you interested in a career in Guernsey within the Adult Disability Team providing support to our service users?
The Adult Disability Service support people with learning disabilities and autism in a variety of settings. These include residential homes, supported living, outreach and day services. As a support worker, depending on your skills and knowledge, you may be based in any one of these teams
Your day will involve around helping people live an ordinary life in their community, supporting personal care, promoting independent living skills and providing emotional support using an active support model. You will be expected to work closely not only with our service users but their family and friends, other professionals with whom they may encounter and be a part.
No initial qualifications are needed to apply for this role. However, there are opportunities to complete either NVQ level 3 or BTEC in Positive Behaviour Support which will be discussed on your yearly appraisal
Working unsocial hours on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday or on weekdays between 8pm and 6am will attracted payment at an enhanced rate as follows:
Monday to Friday 8:00pm 06:00am 40%
Saturday 40%
Sunday and Bank Holidays 80%
Main duties of the job
The post holder is a member of the adult disability service that supports people with a learning disability. The post holder can be based at the professor Shaw Community Centre and support a variety of settings including residential homes, supported living, short break service and the outreach team
