Job summary
The States of Guernsey are seeking to appoint a Staff Nurse to carry out a wide range of duties principally to assess, develop, implement and evaluate care to work within the wider multi-disciplinary team and also autonomously as required.
This role comes with a competitive salary, an annual bonus, progressive annual leave and entitlement to a pension scheme. We will also consider previous service in a substantive post in the NHS towards your entitlement to annual leave, maternity leave and sick pay.
This role also benefits from an additional bonus of £3,000, which is payable on the anniversary of the second and fourth year of employment.
For candidates who would be required to relocate to the Bailiwick of Guernsey, we also offer a relocation package to help with the cost of moving over to the Island. This relocation package offers different solutions depending on an individuals circumstances.
This role offers off-Island candidates an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit (see details below). This permit will also enable candidates to bring immediate family members with them who will be permitted to work on the Island in any sector. There are also good schools on Island for those candidates looking to bring their families with them.
Single subsidised accommodation is available for candidates relocating to the Island.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out a wide range of duties principally to assess, develop, implement and evaluate care to work within the wider multi-disciplinary team and also autonomously as required.
The post holder will follow a Recovery focused model of care that promotes service user autonomy. To work closely with the MDT team to ensure care is delivered to service users in accordance with agreed programmes of health care delivery and recovery.
The post holder will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively on all levels within both the acute mental health service, primary care and with relatives/carers.
The post holder will embed the principles of 6CS when working with service users and will be guided by established policies and procedures within the clinical setting.
The post holder will have a clear knowledge of the professional standards of practice and behaviour as guided by The Nursing Code of Practice and will adhere to these principles at all times.
The post holder will engage in training, clinical supervision, line management supervision and team meetings on a regular basis and will provide supervision to junior members of the nursing team.
The post holder will contribute to the continued professional development of other nursing team members, student nurses, VQ candidates, HCAs and other less experienced/new to role team members.

In liaison with team leader, gain experience in providing leadership to junior staff.

To give due consideration to language and cultural differences of both patients/clients/relatives/significant others and colleagues.
