Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

• Manage the care of patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic Heart Disease (CHD) and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
• Undertake technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients complex/specialist healthcare needs (e.g. wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Cytology, Audiometry, Ear Care).
• Provide assistance to the Senior Medical Officer performing minor surgery.
• Undertake health and well-being clinics (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse) using health promotion, health education, screening and therapeutic communication skills.

Qualifications

Essential

• Professional and specialist knowledge in Primary Healthcare acquired through post graduate degree/ diploma or actively working towards this and can demonstrate equivalent level of competence and experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis.
• Learning and assessing in Practice qualification or equivalent Practice assessors training.
• Registered non-medical prescriber or willingness to undertake training.
• Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS) Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult depending on population at risk)
