Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of the registered Practice Nurse in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. You will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care to all patients within the medical facilities Northolt and Northwood as a combined Network. Assisting the registered Practice Nurse when conducting invasive and non-invasive nursing procedures. The post holder will assist medical and nursing staff during medical emergencies. Providing high-quality person-centred care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity using clinical knowledge that is evidence based.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Under the direction of registered Practice Nurse undertake new patient health checks, sample collection, basic wound care, and basic clinical assessments e.g., record temperature, pulse and respiration rates, urine analysis, blood pressure, National Health Service (NHS) over 40s Health Checks, audiometry, blood glucose monitoring, and other observations as directed reporting any abnormalities.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting medical officers/GPs during the performance of minor operations.
  • Participate in the management of data input and storage of data within the Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP) system.
  • Record accurate consultation data in patients records in accordance with the latest Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) guidelines and other pertinent standards
