This is a full time role, offering 37.5 hours per week, working as part of the Cosford Medical Facility based at RAF Cosford DCAE, Albrighton .There may be requirements to support other DPHC sites where there is a business need for them to do so. This will be within a reasonable travelling distance defined in MoD policy.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, and individualised patient care
  • To work autonomously using advanced levels of history taking and examination skills within multi-disciplinary team, guidelines, and protocols. Utilise advanced clinical skills in assessment and/or formulate a diagnosis and/or treatment plan
  • To triage urgent care requests if required, consulting with patients or directing them appropriately.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering advance primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health.
  • Will be the leading nurse within the medical facility (MF) and will be expected to be the focal point for Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) nursing issues.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and provide nursing care to the MFs population at risk.
  • To lead and promote health and well-being clinics using health promotion, health education, screening, and therapeutic communication skills (i.e., smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse, sexual health, and cervical screening).
  • To manage the development of plans to meet the health needs of patients including diagnostic tests, treatment plans, health promotion and prevention
