This role is
a permanent position offering 37 hours per week, and the salary will

Main duties of the job
Here at
Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), we are an inclusive and dedicated
organisation working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel.
Our MOD
Dentists aim is to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk, providing
clinical outputs, improving, and managing the dental health and operational
fitness of service personnel for whom they are responsible for.
Within your
contracted 37 weekly hours, 2 hours may be attributed to nonclinical activities
including practice meetings, training, and personal administration. The remainder of the contracted hours
are to be utilised to provide clinical outputs and work will be directed
towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of
personnel for whom you are responsible.

Duties and responsibilities for the
role include but are not limited to:
- Inspecting all personnel for whom they are responsible at intervals in accordance with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.
- Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel.
- Work
collaboratively with professional colleagues and in the best interest of
patients.
- Ensuring
that surgery management, documentation including consumable stores, the safe custody of personal sensitive data and the maintenance of equipment is always
kept to a high standard.
- Onward
referral of personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists, or consultants
for treatment as appropriate
- MOD Dentists may be required to undertake Line Manager responsibilities for other Civilian or Military Health Care Professionals within their area of responsibility. This will be in line with Disclosure and Barring Service, Civil Servant Human Resources Policy and Single Service regulations under the guidance of the Senior Dental Officer, Regional Senior Dental Officer or Principle Dental Officer.
