Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

• The Practice Nurse is responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs, medical screening and advice to patients within their professional competence.
• Planning, delivering and evaluating programmes to address complex healthcare needs of patients and improve health and well-being e.g. family planning, smoke cessation, health fairs.
• Share the clinical lead with the Senior Medical Officer and actively lead on Health Care Governance issues and associated risk management, to monitor and improve quality of service delivery.
• Assist the Practice with maintaining an effective recall system for Immunisation/ Operational Grading System Medical Assessment (PULHHEEMS)/Gradings and provide appropriate clinics.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.

There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.

Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Essential

Qualifications

Essential

• Professional/clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level, plus specialist clinical, managerial training.

Desirable

• In date Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult).
• Line Manager of a single function or department encompassing a large number of clinical staff.

Experience

Desirable

• Experienced and competent in history taking and physical assessment and the triage & treatment of minor injury/illness, immunisation, venepuncture, ear care, audiology, travel medicine, wound care, cervical screening.
