Main duties of the job
DMRC provides rehabilitation for patients with complex injuries and
conditions that cant be addressed in primary care or intermediate
rehabilitation. The Force Generation Team includes Spines and Upper Quadrant,
Lower Limb and Specialist Teams, providing Consultant led multidisciplinary
rehabilitation for residential patients, whilst managing an outpatient
caseload. Referrals are received from Defence Primary Healthcare clinicians, as
well as for patients injured overseas and transferred on the Operational
Patient Care Pathway.
The successful candidate will be responsible for expert clinical
practice, research, teaching and leadership. All four components will be
undertaken by the post-holder in addition to their weekly work schedule. This
will require an elevated level of planning and organisation.

- Strategically developing the non-surgical management of patients across Defence Rehabilitation and ensuring local implementation of relevant national policy.
- Assessing highly complex cases using a range of assessment/diagnostic methods and reach valid, reliable, and comprehensive patient and client-centred conclusions appropriate to needs, context and culture.
- Crafting and developing protocols of care and design patient care pathways with the aim of providing best practice examples to others both within the region or nationally.
- Supervising and acting as a mentor to all grades of qualified and unqualified staff and students within the service.
- Leading and contributing to improvements in practice and health outcomes through appropriate change management and negotiation to work to local, regional, national, and international standards.
- Accepting clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and coordinating this efficiently and effectively regarding clinical priorities and use of time.
