We are looking for a dedicated, adaptable and encouraging Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our supportive team at the Medical Facility, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

This is a part-time position consisting of 18 hours per week across Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Main duties of the job

The primary purpose of the successful candidate is to ensure the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for entitled service personnel. This includes undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculoskeletal (MSK), sports and training injury areas. This a singleton physiotherapy post working within a very small multi-disciplinary team with remote professional support.

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Performing highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred via Direct Access to Physiotherapy (DAP), Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals with diverse presentations and complex and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries. Using clinical reasoning skills to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
Formulate, develop and deliver a specialised individualised treatment and exercise programme based upon evidence-based practice, manual assessment and appropriate clinical reasoning.
Communicating effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential.
Managing and prioritising own clinical caseload efficiently and effectively.
Provision of clinical reports to supply clinical prognoses and comprehensive discharge planning for other medical professionals and, where appropriate the military Chain of Command (CoC).

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
