We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed, and professional Civilian Dental Practitioner (CDP) to join our Primary Health Care team here at RAF Wyton, Huntingdon, PE28 2EA.

This is a full time position consisting of 37 hours per week. Requests to work part-time (job share) will be considered, taking into accounts business needs, and the salary will be pro-rata where part-time hours are undertaken.

Main duties of the job

As the sucessful candidate your aim is to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk for whom you are responsible.

Within your contracted 37 weekly hours, 2 hours may be attributed to nonclinical activities including practice meetings, training, and personal administration. The remainder of the contracted hours are to be utilised to provide clinical outputs and work will be directed towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of personnel for whom you are responsible.

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Inspecting all personnel for whom you for are responsible at intervals in accordance with The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines and providing follow up treatment as required.
Ensuring that surgery management, documentation including consumable stores, the safe custody of personal sensitive data and the maintenance of equipment is kept to a high standard at all times.
Working collaboratively with professional colleagues and in the best interests of patients.
Onward referral of personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists, or consultants for treatment as appropriate.

10% Civilian Senior Dental Officer Allowance. Please be advised that the Department is conducting a review of all pay related allowances which could impact on those allowances that the post currently being advertised attracts.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

If found successful for this position, you will be required to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B. There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

The post does NOT offer relocation expenses (move of home, excess fares or temporary transfer). Non Standard move applicants will be eligible for the full package, subject to eligibility.

Due to COVID 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) the successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.

As a result of the changes to the UK immigration rules which came into effect on 1 January 2021, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points based system, where a role has been deemed to be business critical. This role does not meet that category and we will not sponsor a visa. It is therefore NOT open to applications from those who will require sponsorship under the points based system.
