Are you a Social Worker looking for an exciting and rewarding role? If so, there is a fantastic opportunity for a C1 Mental Health Social Worker Regional Lead, working with Defence Primary Healthcare at Bulford Healthcare Facility.

The role of DHRG DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services. This is achieved through the provision of an occupationally-aware primary healthcare service which includes dental, rehabilitation and mental healthcare services.

To provide delivery assurance to the Defence Mental Health Social Work Service (DMHSWS) Head of Service (HoS) in developing and directing organisational level policy and service development in order to ensure the optimal delivery of the Mental Health Social Work Service within DCMH within the designated area of responsibility.

A£2000 market Supplement (pro-rata) is currently payable with this role.

Main duties of the job

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To manage a designated group of Senior Mental Health Social Workers (MHSW), Higher Executive Officers (HEO), within the area of responsibility.

  • Provide individual and group professional supervision and guidance to MHSWs in area of responsibility as per policy guidelines. To Chair quarterly regional meetings and attend National meetings as required.

  • Provide the region with a professional lead for MHSW issues, practice standards and quality, and work to drive improvement in all areas of social work practice and Safeguarding.

  • Be the Lead MHSW practitioner for social work interventions, including therapeutic interventions, in support of the holistic management of mental health patients within the DCMH and wider regional area of responsibility. Act as lead for all complex cases and practice issues across area of responsibility.

  • Current registration with the SWE, SSSC, NISCC or the CCW.
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent / Diploma in Social Work (DipSW)/Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)
  • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) must hold or have previously held AMHP/Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) or Mental Health Officer Status (MHO) in Scotland or significant and proven experience in the management and supervision of staff within a mental health social care/NHS CMHT (Community Mental Health Team) environment.
  • An understanding and working knowledge of all relevant social care legislation MCA (05) In Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) (LPS), Care Act 14, the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR) (98) Adult and Children Safeguarding Policies.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence as the post requires some travel including to patients homes & attending external meetings.
