Job summary

RAF Odiham is a highly deployable main operating base and home of the Chinook helicopter force. The Primary Care Rehabilitation Facility (PCRF), in support of the Regional Medical Centre, are committed to improving the operational and occupational effectiveness of entitled personnel through provision of a comprehensive, compassionate, professional, and high-quality rehabilitation service.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Physiotherapist to work within a fast-paced organisation and for a team that is highly focused on performance optimisation and occupational rehabilitation. The rehab team are comprised of a military team lead, a B7 physiotherapist, a B6 physiotherapist and a military Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor.

This is a permanent, full time role, offering 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical leadership of the PCRF, ensuring that the whole team delivers a safe, effective, and efficient rehabilitation (rehab) service to the highest standard. They will be a source of advanced clinical expertise in the management of musculoskeletal injuries (MSKI) and provide expert advice to patients, other physiotherapists and Allied Health Care Professionals, and GPs/medical officers within the practice and region.

Job responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing expert clinical and occupational (within boundaries of their scope of practice) advice to a range of other healthcare professionals, patients, and employers (local chain of command).
  • Maintaining, managing, and prioritising a caseload of patients, using evidence-based practice and advanced clinical/occupational reasoning, and referring to other medical and healthcare professionals as required.
  • Participating in appropriate research and development of evidence-based practice, as directed by OC PCRF, in support of Defence Rehab, Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) and Defence Medical Service (DMS) research and innovation initiatives.
  • Organising and managing the department, in support of the OC PCRF, and lead the development of physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, reviewing current and introducing new patient clinical pathways ensuring compliance and alignment with existing DMS, DPHC and Def Rehab policy, directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Leading, in support of the OC PCRF, a healthcare governance culture that supports the development of continuous quality improvement for both patients and staff
