Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

• Providing dental hygiene treatment in line with their approved scope of practice as per General Dental Council (GDC) guidelines and in accordance with agreed patient group directive
• Carrying out and record daily maintenance, servicing and pre-use checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies.
• Carrying out dental work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided.
• Being aware of the microbiological hazards that exist in a dental surgery and ensure they are familiar with the DPHC

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Due to COVID 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) the successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.

The successful applicant will have contact with patients and service users. In-line with the NHS England approach, MOD is in the process of making full vaccination a condition of deployment for its healthcare workers employed across the UK. In order to comply with our duty of care, we require our staff to have the COVID vaccine and we will ask for proof of vaccination status during the recruitment process. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Certificate/Diploma in Dental Hygiene or BSc in Dental Therapy
• Registration with the General Dental Council (please include details on any current, spent, or impending restrictions to practice)
• National Examination Board of Dental Nurses (MEBDN) qualified

Experience

Essential

• Knowledge of range of oral health procedures; acquired through training to degree level or to diploma level plus experience to degree equivalent level.
