We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 4 Civilian Dental Nurse who will be working within our team, here at Helles Barracks, North Yorkshire.

This position is 16 hours per week, Mondays and Tuesdays 07.45 - 16.30.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare Dental (DPHC (D)) dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Informing GDC of annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) undertaken, when requested.
  • Maintaining immunological protection against Hepatitis B in accordance with current guidelines, advising the line manager of any change to immunological status.
  • Working independently in accordance with Joint Service Publication (JSP) 950, DPHC (D) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), JSP 950, Freedom to Speak Up documents and all other relevant policy and guidelines.
  • Working within the guidance provided by the General Dental Council in the Scope of Practice document.
  • Managing the hastening, receipt, despatch and documentation of dental prosthetic appliances, ensuring timely appointments for patients as necessary.

Due to COVID 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) the successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.

The successful applicant will have contact with patientsand service users. In-line with the NHS England approach, MOD is in the process of making full vaccination a condition of deployment for its healthcare workers employed across the UK. In order to comply with our duty of care, we require our staff to have the COVID vaccine and we will ask for proof of vaccination status during the recruitment process.
